My dear friends, today we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints—not just the great saints whose names we know, but the countless souls, the "great multitude, which no one could count," who are now in Glory with God in heaven. This is a day of profound Hope and a reminder of our true vocation.
The second reading from St. John speaks of the incredible Gift bestowed upon us: that we should be called children of God. This gift is not reserved for the few; it is a promise given to all of us through Christ. We are children of God now, but St. John assures us that what we shall be has not yet been revealed. Our faith is the knowledge that one day, we shall see Him as He is, and we shall be like Him. The saints are simply those who have already attained this full realization of the Gift.
The Gospel, the Beatitudes, gives us the Guide to that Glory. The saints are the living proof that this counter-cultural path works. The poor in spirit, the meek, those who mourn, the merciful, the clean of heart—these are the ones who are blessed. These are not platitudes; they are the core values of the Kingdom of God, the spiritual roadmap that every saint followed.
The saints are our older brothers and sisters, who show us that holiness is possible, even amid the "great tribulation" spoken of in the first reading. They are the Guide on our journey, reminding us that ordinary lives, lived with extraordinary faith, humility, and love, lead to eternal Glory.
Brothers and sisters, let us embrace the Gift of our divine adoption. Let us follow the Guide of the Beatitudes in our daily lives. And let us live with the certainty of faith that one day, we, too, will stand with the great multitude, robed in white, giving Glory to God and the Lamb. Amen.
