My friends, the readings today are filled with images of sight and blindness. To help us pray, let us reflect on three words starting with D: Darkness, Desire, and Dawn.

First, Darkness. Isaiah speaks of a time when "out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see." In the Gospel, two blind men follow Jesus. Darkness is not just a physical condition; it is a spiritual one. We all have blind spots—areas of our life where we refuse to see the truth, grudges we refuse to let go of, or sins we ignore. We are often walking in the gloom of our own pride.

Second, Desire. Notice how the blind men behave. They don't just sit there; they follow Jesus crying out, "Son of David, have pity on us!" They have a desperate desire to be healed. When Jesus enters the house, they follow Him inside. Jesus asks them, "Do you believe I can do this?" He demands a profession of faith. He wants to know if their desire is rooted in trust. Do we desire holiness as much as these men desired their sight?

Third, Dawn. Upon their confession of faith, Jesus touches their eyes, and their sight returns. The dawn breaks. Isaiah’s prophecy is fulfilled: "The lowly will find joy in the Lord." When we let the light of Christ in, our confusion vanishes.

Today, do not be afraid to admit your darkness to God. Cry out to Him with desire, saying, "Lord, I want to see!" And have faith that He will bring the dawn of His healing light into your soul.
