My dear brothers and sisters, we often look for signs and wonders to justify our faith, but today we are invited to a deeper, quieter confidence.

Promise God begins today by promising us something entirely new. In Isaiah, He tells us He is creating a reality where the sound of weeping is replaced by the sound of joy. This isn't just a distant dream; it is a promise for the "now." In our moments of deepest grief or when we feel "stuck" in the old ways of our sins, God’s promise is the first light of dawn. He promises that our current sorrow is not the final chapter of our lives.

Person In the Gospel, we see this promise take a human face in the Person of Jesus. The royal official didn't just need a "magic trick"; he needed a Savior. When Jesus says, "Go; your son will live," the man is faced with a choice. Does he wait for a sign, or does he trust the Person standing before him? To have a heartfelt faith is to move beyond what Jesus can do for us and fall in love with who Jesus is for us.

Persistence The official’s faith was not a one-time spark; it was a persistent walk. He "went his way" relying only on a word. Can you imagine that walk home? Every step was a battle between doubt and trust. But as he persisted, he found that the fever left his son at the exact moment Jesus spoke. Our Lent is about this persistence—continuing to walk even when we don't see the healing yet, knowing that the Word of God is already at work in the hidden corners of our lives.
