My dear brothers in Christ, as we reflect on today's readings, let us ponder on three words: hidden, heaven, and holy.
In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of a treasure hidden in a field and a pearl of great price. For many of you, your missionary lives have been like seeking that treasure and that pearl. Perhaps your sacrifices, your hardships, your quiet acts of service, have felt hidden from the world's gaze. But know this: God sees every offering, every ache, every prayer. Your unwavering faith, despite illness or the limitations of age, is a profound treasure in His eyes.
The kingdom of heaven is what Jesus describes as this ultimate treasure. For those of you who have dedicated your lives to bringing souls to Christ, your desire for heaven has always been at the core of your mission. Even now, in your moments of stillness and suffering, you are participating in the unfolding of that heavenly kingdom. Your perseverance is a testament to the hope of eternal life, a hope that strengthens us all.
Finally, the Psalm reminds us that the Lord our God is holy. His presence, like the radiant face of Moses, transforms. Your lives, consecrated to His service, are made holy through your unwavering dedication. Even in sickness, even in advanced age, your very being continues to be a sacred offering, a living prayer, drawing others closer to the holy presence of God. May you find comfort and strength in this divine embrace. Amen.
