Maligayang Pasko sa inyong lahat! Merry Christmas! Today, the waiting ends, and the rejoicing begins. Our summary for this holy day starts with the letter W: Word, Wonder, and Witness.
First, the Word. St. John tells us, "In the beginning was the Word... and the Word became flesh." God did not send an email. He did not send a representative. He sent His Word, His very self, wrapped in fragility. In a world full of noise, fake news, and empty promises, the only Word that matters is Jesus. He is God’s "I Love You" to humanity.
Second, Wonder. The First Reading says, "Break forth together into song... for the Lord has comforted his people." Christmas restores our sense of wonder. Look at the Belen. God, who created the galaxies, became a baby who couldn't even hold up His own head. If that doesn't fill you with wonder, nothing will. Don't let the busyness of the grand reunions steal the quiet wonder of the manger.
Third, Witness. John the Baptist came for "testimony, to bear witness to the light." Christmas is not just a received gift; it is a shared mission. If Jesus is born in you today, people should see it. They should see it in your patience with difficult relatives, your generosity to the godchildren (inaanak), and your kindness to those who have nothing to give you in return.
Action: Today, speak a "word" of life to someone. Send a message to someone lonely or estranged, sharing the love of the Word Made Flesh.
