Today, on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, the readings remind us that our faith is a response to a great gift. The First Reading speaks of God's abundant mercy and favor. We are reminded that our ability to follow Christ is rooted in God's unmerited favor—in His grace. This grace is a power, a life force that enables us to do what we could never do on our own.
And where there is grace, there is guidance. God does not abandon us; He gives us the Holy Spirit to guide us, and He gives us the example of the saints and the Blessed Mother to light our way. It is through this guidance that we find the path to holiness. As we receive this grace and follow this guidance, we experience spiritual growth. Our faith deepens, our virtues strengthen, and we become more and more like Christ.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is our perfect model of this journey. She was full of grace from the moment of her conception. Her “fiat,” her “yes” to God's will, was a complete and total submission to God’s guidance. As Queen of Heaven, she is the mother of all Christians, and she continues to guide us toward her Son, helping us to be filled with grace and to grow in holiness. Her Queenship is not one of worldly power, but of humble service and perfect grace. Let us look to her today as our Queen, and ask for her intercession that we may be more receptive to God’s grace, seek His guidance, and experience true spiritual growth.
