Mga kapatid, today's readings give us clear pointers on how to be faithful Filipino people. The first is to have a proper fear of the Lord. This doesn't mean being afraid of Him, but having a deep respect and awe for our Creator. It means putting God first in our lives, in our families, and in our nation. A Filipino with a true fear of the Lord will not tolerate corruption, injustice, or anything that goes against God's will. This reverence for God leads us to our second point: faithfulness. God has been faithful to us throughout our history, from the time of our ancestors to the present day. In turn, He asks us to be faithful to Him. This means serving Him with our whole heart and soul, not just in our prayers but in our actions. It means being faithful in our duties, whether as a student, a parent, a worker, or a government official. Lastly, the Gospel reminds us of forgiveness. Jesus, in His passion, showed us the ultimate act of forgiveness. As Filipinos, known for our close family ties and bayanihan spirit, we are also called to be a forgiving people. Let us not hold grudges or let anger consume us. Instead, let us forgive as God has forgiven us, so that we may be instruments of His peace and love.
