The readings for today offer us a beautiful picture of what it means to truly serve others. St. Paul describes his ministry with the Thessalonians as a parent's gentleness towards their children. This is an important lesson for us, especially as Filipinos known for our hospitality and close family ties. True service isn't about seeking personal praise or flattery, but about sharing the Gospel with genuine love and affection. It's about nurturing others in their faith journey, not lording over them. The Gospel then reminds us to be careful about superficial piety. It's not enough to appear holy on the outside; we must cleanse the inside first, letting God's word be our inner guidance. We are called to be people of integrity, who embody the truth and mercy of Christ in all our actions.
