The Gospel today gives us a powerful reminder from Christ Himself: "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides." This isn't a passive request; it's a fundamental reordering of our lives. We are to prioritize God's reign and His will above all else. This pursuit of the Kingdom is inseparable from how we treat one another. It's a call to embody His righteousness in our daily actions.

This righteousness is beautifully expressed through kindness and mercy. The First Reading from Ezekiel speaks of God's compassion for His people, forgiving their iniquities and promising them a new heart. We are called to reflect this divine kindness in our own lives, reaching out to those on the margins and offering them the same mercy we ourselves have received. To truly live this, we need a deep and personal knowledge of God. We must know His heart to share it.

This is precisely the lesson we learn from Saint John Eudes. He dedicated his life to establishing the Kingdom of God on earth by founding seminaries and religious orders. His profound spiritual knowledge of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary was the wellspring from which his ministry flowed. This intimate understanding of God’s love fueled his radical kindness, particularly for the poor and outcasts, ministering to them when no one else would. He taught that our devotion to God should transform how we see and treat our neighbors. Saint John Eudes reminds us that to build God’s Kingdom, we must cultivate a deep knowledge of God that overflows into genuine acts of kindness.
