On this feast of St. John the Baptist, we are reminded of the profound call to speak truth to power. John, in his unwavering commitment to justice, spoke out against the sin of King Herod and paid the ultimate price. This is a powerful message for us as Filipinos: sometimes, living our faith means taking a stand for what is right, even when it puts us in a difficult position. Yet, in the midst of this struggle, the Responsorial Psalm sings of joy. The just find joy in the Lord. This reminds us that true happiness is not in worldly pleasures, but in doing God's will and in the promise of His Kingdom. The life of St. John the Baptist teaches us that a faithful person is one who is a voice for the voiceless and a witness to the truth, living a life of courage and conviction that ultimately leads to eternal joy.
